Project Description
Debuting at Monster Palooza, and the Goldtooth Gallery, “Mother” is a tribute to the Alfred Hitchcock movie Psycho. I wanted to do more than just a tribute piece, so I combined it as a parody of the iconic “American Gothic” painting by Grant Wood. As with most of my paintings, I love to incorporate stories into the details. In this painting you can see the classic Psycho house in the background, along with a tree full of crows as a salute to “The Birds”. Norman is even holding the key to his favorite Motel Room, with a few knuckle tats I took the liberty of adding. The main portion of the painting was done in the classic black and white to mimic the original film stock, but something was missing, so I bathed the entire background with blood red kandy.
Prints are now available here.
